Okay, so it’s a dumb grouping but I didn’t have enough of any of these to make their own category.

MY FAVORITE FRUITS
Fruit is probably the best snack you can get and, since you need 3 to 5 servings a day…..enjoy!
- Asian Pears
- Cantaloupe
- Clementines
- Fuji Apples, Gala’s – those are MY favorites but try all different varieties – if you don’t like one you may like another as in….I don’t think delicious are delicious!
- Grapes – try them frozen for a great snack. Just clean, take off the stem, stick in a ziploc bag and freeze. Kids love them!
- Honeydew
- Oranges
- Pineapple, fresh
- Pluots (plum/apricot)
- Watermelon (with salt!!)
- Frozen Strawberries and Frozen Bananas are ALWAYS in my freezer for protein shakes
- Canned Pumpkin (for crustless pumpkin pie!)
- Canned crushed pineapple and pineapple chunks (drain and freeze the chunks for a snack)

MY FAVORITE MEATS, SEAFOOD, POULTRY
I’m not a big meat eater but there are some I like a lot.
- Skinless, boneless, chicken breast – we barbeque a lot here in Tucson! Make a bunch, measure, put in freezer bags and freeze for when you’re too busy to cook!
- Pork tenderloin – really the other “white meat”. Costco’s is 4 oz. for 110 calories. You can’t beat that.
- Aidell’s or Kirkland Chicken and Turkey Sausage
- Jenny’Os Ground Turkey BREAST – the regular ground turkey can have as much fat as ground beef! Always read the labels. Forget the turkey breast in the freezer section in the “tubes”
- Turkey Breast (it doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving to buy turkey but we just get the frozen breast, cook it, take off the skin and……go for it!
- Gorton’s grilled fish fillets
- Imitation Crab Meat (with cocktail sauce and rice crackers, yummm)
- Salmon Steaks, frozen or fresh
- Salmon, Canned, Red
- Starkist Tuna in the packages – seasoned and great as ”take to work or school for lunch”
- Frozen cooked shrimp (for stir-frys)

You’ll see by this list that most of the vegetables I eat are fresh or frozen. Some vegetables you have to get in a can (like diced tomatoes) but, for the most part, I stay away from them. I might use a couple in stew recipes but…..they don’t taste as good or have the nutrition fresh or frozen has.
- Broccoli
- Del Monte Petite Cut Diced Tomatoes/garlic and olive ol
- Edamame (soy beans) I buy them frozen or dried for a snack
- Grape Tomato
- Peppers (all colors!!)
- Yukon Gold Potatoes – they’re the best baked!
- Romaine Lettuce, Leaf Lettuce (any DARK lettuce – the darker, the more nutrition)

- Spaghetti Squash (sounds silly but it’s great with cottage cheese!)

- Sugar Snap Peas – you can eat them raw!

(Hey, I never said I WAS perfect! Remember though, if it says ENRICHED you’ve been robbed! So, MOST OF THE TIMES choose whole grains!

MY FAVORITE BREAKFAST FOODS
A lot of times breakfast is a protein shake made with a scoop of powdered protein (we get ours at Trader Joe’s), 6 large frozen strawberries, 1/2 a banana, 4 oz. chocolate soy milk, 1 1/2 to 2 cups water, Splenda to taste – and whirl in blender!! I like mine good and thick so I don’t add as much water. For less calories you can leave out the soy milk (or use white milk if you like that better). We buy bananas on sale and freeze them. The shake is thicker if you use all frozen fruit. Other breakfast suggestions:

- Eggs (I mix one egg with 1/2 cup egg beaters because I want SOME fat but not a lot)

- Nature-s Path OPTIMA cereal w/flax,soy and blueberries – terrific!!
- Fiber One cereal – the original
- McCann’s Irish Oatmeal (I make a big batch and freeze in sandwich bags – 1 cup in each)
- Van’s whole grain or wheat free waffles (I do wheat free since I’m allergic to too much wheat)
- Trader Joe’s twigs, flakes and cluster cereal (Sounds great, huh?) I mix 1/2 cup of this with 1/2 cup of Fiber One for PLENTY fiber – I use plain yogurt instead of milk – sweeten with a Splenda packet)
- Lo-Fat Greek Yogurt (so much richer than regular)
- Lo-Carb Tortilla with low-fat cheese – wrap and nuke
- Egg Beaters and 1 square Laughing Cow Cheese (cut up) – mix and nuke 1 min.
